ABSTRACT

Gastric cancer (GC) is a digestive tract tumor that occurs in the epithelial tissues of the gastric mucosa, seriously affecting the life and health of patients, and its mortality rate ranks the third among malignancies. Although medical technology has made great progress in recent years, the progression of GC still cannot be effectively controlled by surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy. The pathogenesis of GC is extremely complex and is closely related to the tumor microenvironment, chronic inflammation, and immune escape, among which the reduction of tumor cell apoptosis is one of the important mechanisms for the occurrence and development of GC. Apoptosis refers to the process of spontaneous termination of cell life caused by genes under specific physiological or pathological conditions, which is of great significance for maintaining the stability of the internal environment. Researchers have found that in the GC state, mitochondrial endogenous apoptosis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, external death receptors, and other apoptosis pathways are regulated by multiple signaling pathways and genes, which together lead to the decline of GC cell apoptosis rate and thus promote the progression of GC. Chinese medicine is advantageous and characterized by multiple components, multiple targets, synergistic effect, and few adverse reactions. A large number of studies have shown that polysaccharide components, as effective components of Chinese medicine, have biological activities such as cancer inhibition, blood sugar control, anti-inflammation, antioxidant damage, and anti-virus, and can effectively inhibit the deterioration of GC by inducing cell apoptosis, gradually becoming a hot spot in GC drug research and development. However, systematic reviews on the apoptosis of GC induced by Chinese medicine polysaccharides are rarely reported. Therefore, this paper analyzed and summarized the studies of Chinese medicine polysaccharides in promoting apoptosis and interfering with GC, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the basic research, new drug development, and clinical application of Chinese medicine polysaccharides in the intervention of GC.

ABSTRACT

Diabetic nephropathy is one of the most common microvascular complications of diabetes. It is the main cause of end-stage renal disease and a cause of increased mortality of diabetes. Moreover, diabetic nephropathy has a complex pathogenesis, which is difficult to be detected in the early stage. Therefore, it is easy to miss the optimal intervention period in clinical treatment, which seriously endangers the life and health of patients. As an active ingredient of Chinese medicine, polysaccharides have biological activities such as anti-tumor, lowering blood sugar, immune regulation, anti-oxidation and anti-virus. In recent years, many studies have demonstrated that polysaccharides in Chinese medicine can effectively interfere with diabetic nephropathy, with multi-target and multi-channel characteristics and significant effect, showing great potential. Although there are many studies on the mechanism of Chinese medicine polysaccharides in the intervention of diabetic nephropathy, there is a lack of a systematic and detailed review on it. Therefore, based on the animal experiments on the intervention of Chinese medicine polysaccharides in diabetic nephropathy in recent years, we analyzed and summarized the mechanism of Chinese medicine polysaccharides in the intervention of diabetic nephropathy from five aspects of improving insulin resistance, improving oxidative stress, reducing inflammatory reaction, protecting kidney and improving intestinal flora. In addition, the signaling pathways and indicators involved in the mechanism were summarized, and the intervention effect and polysaccharide structure analysis were compared. The paper was expected to provide a theoretical basis for the basic research, new drug development and clinical application of Chinese medicine polysaccharides in the intervention of diabetic nephropathy.

ABSTRACT

Intestinal Peyer's patches (PPs) are local immune tissues of the intestine, which are considered to be the main induction site of the intestinal mucosal immune response, and closely related to immune-related refractory enteropathies, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. In recent years, more and more scholars have tried to find a new breakthrough for treating refractory enteropathies with a limited efficacy of clinical interventions through in-depth study of the relationship between PPs and enteropathy. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) polysaccharides are considered to be a key component for immune regulation with TCM. Modern studies show that TCM polysaccharides have a significant positive intervention effect on the structure and function of PPs, with good development prospects. Based on this, this paper focuses on PPs and intestinal-related diseases, and systematically introduces the physiological structure of PPs and their drug delivery mechanism, and summarizes the interactions of PPs with effect on immune-related enteropathies, analyze of current studies and prospects of effect of TCM polysaccharides in intervening intestinal disease and its dysfunction by regulating PPs, with the aim to provide new strategies for basic studies and clinical treatment of immune-related refractory enteropathies from the perspective of PPs, and new ideas for basic studies and clinical studies on effect of TCM polysaccharides in intervening enteropathies.
